The 16 and 17 episodes of Noor Jahan are the continuation of the previous events. With not much to offer, the two episodes have taken the ongoing crisis forward. Class differences, family politics, marital issues, and past family feuds affecting the new generation are the main ingredients of Noor Jahan.
A female-centric story with a female hero
As the title suggests, Noor Jahan is a story with a female hero. It revolves around a mother with her three sons and daughters-in-law. Watching a female as the leading character is good but the story is a typical one.
Safeer is back home to Sumbul
As Safeer (Ali Rehman) finds his relationship in chaos with his second wife (Zoya Nasir), he comes back home to his mother, Noor Jahan (Saba Hameed), and first wife, Sumbul (Hajra Yameen). Surprisingly, she accepts him without any protest. This is because she belongs to a poor background so she is unable to say something and is compelled to tolerate all the things quietly. On the other hand, Safeer once again gets settled in the home with only a simple ‘sorry’.
Noor Bano has lost her father
Noor Bano (Kubra Khan) has lost her father. It is not possible to compensate for such a huge loss. There is no substitute for a father, that too in a situation when she badly needs emotional support. This can have a huge impact on the story as of now she has to bear the burden of all sentimental setbacks by herself.
Cinematography, locations, and characterization
The director has experimented with different camera angles to give things a new look. The indoor locations are mostly huge bungalows with lavish settings and décor. However, it is a bit disappointing to see that the characters face the same problems that are normally associated with middle-class families.
Performance
Saba Hameed is our senior actor who has been working since the time of PTV. With such a huge experience, she has done the character of Noor Jahan brilliantly. She portrays the different shades of a mother, mother-in-law, and bhabi at the same time. She truly has the persona of her character, Noor Jahan: dominant, loving, facing the family feuds, and maintaining her status in any circumstances.
Others are also playing their parts well especially the father of Noor Bano gives a true look of a traditional feudal.
What Noor Bano is going to do after the death of her father, it would be quite interesting to watch. Whether she goes for revenge or something else is coming our way, let’s wait for the next episode to find out.
