The first two episodes of Baby Baji Ki Bahuein have set the tone of the story very well. What are the characters, the background story, what they are doing now, the conflicts ahead, failure in keeping the family intact, the male ego, and some issues between the female characters.
Intro Episodes
With the first season ending with the passing of Baby Baji (Samina Ahmed), the sequel is here to continue the story. This time the separation between Jamal and Azra appears to be the main theme.
The first introductory episodes were well-written and well-directed. The inner and outer conflicts faced by the characters and Azra are established very well. We don’t find extra and dragging household scenes with all the actors fitting into their characters.
Performance
The performance of Azra (Javeria Saud) and Jamal (Saud Qasmi) as a separated couple is good. The egoistic behaviors and helplessness are the main ingredients of the characters. Kids have also performed well especially the little one, Umer, when he is ill and disturbed due to the separation of his mother. Others continue their characters where they left in the last season.
Storyline and script
The main theme of the story is to keep the family united. The legacy of Baby Baji is now dependent on his four sons – three of whom are married – as they are to manage the family business, they find it difficult to keep it up. The family issue of the kids forced to live without their mother is also well-highlighted. The problem of poverty and price hikes has also its share in the story which is pretty relatable for many of the audience.
Sequel with other twists and turns
As the story advances after Baby Baji, things are coming with a bit of change. Also, as the story belongs to Baby Baji, the team and the writer-director duo will have to make an extra effort to give a hit serial without Baby Baji. Now the burden is on the shoulders of sons and their wives to keep the viewers engaged. We will witness new things, events, and maybe new characters.
What to expect next
A bit of light entertainment with the marital and family problems makes it a balanced one. Azra and Jamal are unable to accept each other after a wide gulf so this is going to go a long way and as the main part of the story. Waleed (Fazal Hussain) is the youngest and unmarried brother so we will see his romance in the next episodes. Kids can bring Azra back home but for only a few days. So the story will be on a roll with new changes and conflicts – both family and financial.
