Episodes 62 and 63 of the soap serial Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain aired this weekend. The 62nd episode is all about Jamal’s death and his family’s plight, especially Azra (Javeria Saud). It does not have much to offer, as most of the episodes involve the family in the hospital and then the sad news of Jamal’s demise. The long trauma scenes are to follow.
However, episode 63 brings the story back to a bit faster pace with property disputes surfacing soon after Jamal’s departure.
Script and story
Saqib Ali Rana has written this with all the ingredients of a family story: twists and turns, conspiracies, family problems, etc. After the death of Baby Baji (Samina Ahmed), the death of Jamal (Saud Qasmi) is the most intriguing plot point that has given the story a new turn. This turn may bring new and unexpected changes to the story and, of course, the characters. The conspiracies of Phuppo (Asma Abbas) are fully uncovered now. She and her daughter, Saira (Madiha Iftikhar), have played their game successfully but Azra has pledged not to spare them.
These conspiracies are now taking center stage in the story.
Performance
The 62nd episode belongs to Azra as she is the center point during the treatment of Jamal at the hospital and afterward. She is now confronting Saira as the biggest rival who has ruined her life. Naseer (Ahmad Hassan) has also performed well as he assumes the role of the eldest brother after Jamal. Asma Abbas has also done a great job and is true to her character of Phuppo. She maintains the aura of a conspiratorial lady. We can see such characters in real life so they are well relatable.
Direction and story advancement
Tehseen Khan has done a good job of keeping the audience engaged and interested as director. He has maintained a good pace despite a lengthy soap with 60+ episodes and much more to come. New characters have also made their mark as the story goes along. Maintaining the audience’s interest through a long soap is not an easy job but so far the director and the team are doing well with their solid performances and good script.
What to expect next?
The traumatized Azra is now like a wounded lioness who has to take revenge for the death of Jamal. The grief of becoming a widow and her kids becoming orphans, her next plan of action is to expose the conspiracies of Phuppo and her daughter. We may find new conflicts waiting for the characters, especially the negative ones. Asma (Sunita Marshal) is also determined to take her boutique back from Saira (Madiha Iftikhar). As the conflicts are greater, the character development is also going to be attractive and more catchy. Family and financial contrasts will go along.
Azra is embracing a new transition in the story from a wife to a widow. This transition is going to add spice to the story and new turns and twists are shaping their way into the next episodes. Let’s wait and see.
