So after battling many rocks and storms, love finally reaches its destination. Let’s have a look at how the story concluded in the final two episodes:
Conflicts were resolved at the end:
During the last episode, till the last minute, it looks obvious that Mehmal (Sajal Ali) is going to marry Farhad (Azan Sami Khan) as everything is going very smoothly at the wedding ceremony. But just before the Nikah, a bullet comes from the side. It pierces the heart of Farhad, bringing everything to a standstill⦠and then, as usual, there is a happy ending with the loving couple finally marrying and reuniting.

The weaving of the story can’t be any wrong as it is penned by the veteran playwright, Khalil-ul-Rehman Qamar (KRQ). However, one can differ with the views presented in the story, like the huge age gap between the male and female leads.
Direction by Nadeem Baig:
Baig has worked with Humayun Saeed, Sajal Ali, and KRQ before this project as well. They have a good understanding and bond with each other. That bond reflects in their work together. From executing the script for the screen to the production, Baig has taken care of everything brilliantly. There may be a few hiccups, but his overall work is admirable.

Videography and production design:
Since the drama is filmed in Lahore, unlike Karachi, we notice new locations and experience a sense of freshness with the settings. Aerial shots showcase the historic Badshahi Masjid, Chowk Chowburji with the orange line train passing nearby, and the Metro Bus Terminal, along with scenes at the BNU campus, Anarkali, and Mazar Peer Makki. The wedding venue is also very spacious and beautifully decorated.

Performance:
Sajal Ali is, as always, outstanding as Mehmal. Whether expressing her love for Manto or showing a sad expression while being Faraz’s bride, she absolutely nailed it. Saima Noor as Surayya also displayed her acting skills and proved that she is a talented performer both on the big screen and television. Humayun Saeed really gives off a professor’s look. Sanam Saeed, Saba Faisal, Asif Raza Meer, Babar Ali, Azan Sami Khan, and Saba Hameed also proved their talent.

Final thoughts:
So we can say that Main Manto Nahin Hoon has been a good and memorable story in many ways, aside from some controversies. From the story and script to the direction and acting, it is a valuable addition to our drama library. The story has ended, but it will remain in our memories for a long time.
