The first episode of Mayi Ri is out and people are already loving it.
he First Episode of the drama Mayi Ri aired last night on ARY Digital. People have been waiting for this drama as its teasers and news about it have already been garnering the attention of the media as well as the viewers. Its main idea is child marriage.
Insight into the plot:
Two brothers – Zaheer and Habib – live in the same house with their families. Zaheer has an only son, Fakhir (Samar Abbas). The younger brother, Habib, has two daughters, of which Aini (Aina Asif) is the elder.
The presence of the mother-in-law in the household leads to the usual scenes that are often a part of Pakistani stories. However, the wives of both brothers have friendly relations between them. Zaheer’s wife, Samina (Maria Wasti), takes good care of him. Aini’s mother, Ayesha (Maya Khan), is faced with another conflict and that is: Habib is having affairs outside the home.
At the very beginning of the first episode, elder brother Zaheer (Nauman Ijaz) suffers a heart attack which causes trouble for the entire family. Also, family politics; the same usual contrasts between mother-in-law, and daughter-in-law; Zaheer’s reprimanding Samina which is the influence of his mother; the three cousins playing carrom and having the usual gossip, etc. have been nicely portrayed. However, as the story unfolds, we will get to see more of the character developments and events.
Shedding Light on Important Social Issues:
Child marriage is such a tragedy in Pakistani society that according to UNICEF statistics, 19 million girls in the country are victims of it. Child marriage robs both girls and boys of their beautiful and carefree childhood. Most girls suffer from it. According to the plot and story of Mayi Ri, Aini, and Fakhir are married off at a young age which not only has a profound impact on the two children but also on their families.
At present, only the introduction and a slight glimpse of the characters of Fakhir and Aini have been seen. In the first episode, the performances of all the small and big characters have been good.
We strongly hope that this story based on a burning social issue will give our viewers food for thought.
