The Red Sea International Film Festival opened in Jeddah with a dazzling red-carpet ceremony, where renowned artists from around the world graced the event, adding prestige to the global film gathering. Representing Pakistan, acclaimed actress Atiqa Odho, veteran artist Tauseeq Haider, filmmaker and actor Shehzad Nawaz, and Pakistan Pavilion organizer Nosheen Waseem made special appearances. Their arrival was warmly welcomed by both the festival management and attendees.
While inaugurating the festival, Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan stated that culture is one of the most powerful tools of global influence, and cinema stands at the forefront serving as a bridge that brings people closer and promotes understanding.
He further said that the fifth edition of the festival is “a result of the remarkable efforts and generous support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.” The minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s cultural sector has witnessed an unprecedented quality leap in recent years, becoming a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s future.
Prince Badr added that over the past seven years, the Ministry of Culture has worked to preserve the Kingdom’s cultural heritage and develop a diverse cultural landscape that includes literature, visual arts, music, crafts, fine arts, and cinema forming an integrated cultural ecosystem that reflects national identity and the aspirations of new generations.
He highlighted that the Red Sea Film Foundation plays a vital role in empowering youth, supporting creativity, and enhancing Saudi presence in the global film industry through its annual support programs and initiatives. The Foundation also contributes to stimulating economic growth and strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a leading cinematic destination.
The fifth edition of the festival commenced under the theme “Your Story, Your Festival” “Loving Cinema,” with extensive participation from filmmakers across the Arab world, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the United States. Artists and guests gathered under one platform to celebrate the seventh art and its power to unite and connect people.
