The 35th and 36th episodes of Khumar have been the continuation of the miseries of Faiz and his family. His father is in jail, his mother and sister are compelled to stay at a friend’s home, and he’s broke. Only a single relief for him is been the financial help from Rufi which he has least expected.
Script and storyline:
Written by the well-known novelist, Maha Malik, it is a repeated story with some newness. In the two episodes under review, Kehkashan Begum (Hina Khawaja) and her daughter (Minsa Malik) have understood very well what a pressing and testing time is like and what karma is. As Faiz has been different from his family, he has got help one way or the other. On the other hand, Hareem (Neelum Munir) is doing well in her office. Nasir (Adnan Samad) couldn’t fully recover from his accident. Things have been advancing but with a slow pace and a predictable plot. Still, there are no signs of Hareem and Faiz’s reunion. Hareem still has feelings for a clueless husband who is been quite unable to understand the plot against him and her. Why is she still in love with an untrustworthy person like Faiz? Till now, things have been constantly distressing for almost all.
Direction and Production:
Produced by the famous duo of Abdullah and Asad (7th Sky Entertainment), and directed by Ali Faizan, this subject has also been done before. Hate, jealousy, greed, and revenge are the most common factors in the drama stories of Geo Entertainment. Expensive homes and lavish lifestyles of the characters are the easy attention grabbers for the drama viewers of the middle class. Moreover, the typical marital and in-laws’ differences can provide a solid conflict base on which the story can be built.
Ali Faizan has produced human feelings of superiority, jealousy, love, and rivalry in quite a decent manner. These episodes have been banking on the miserable situations of the characters. We have seen many flashbacks in these two episodes. The story has gone to the length of 36+ episodes which could be cut short and made more precise.
Performance and Characterization:
Hina Khawaja and Adnan Samad have been brilliant in negative roles. But these two should be used in positive characters also. These are the familiar characters we have been seeing in our daily lives. It would have been better if we could see better than the typical thinking in them and a few non-cliché. Sometimes, Hareem looks ordinary while she must be above par as the female lead.
What to expect next?
As Kehkashan Begum has seen the downside of life herself, she may now be compassionate toward Hareem and Karma may positively affect her. Faiz can also have a late understanding of the plot against him and Hareem tailored by none other than his mother and Nasir has also been part of that evil conspiracy. However, we can have another twist in the tale to spice the depressing things up. Let’s wait for the next ones.
