Gentleman has gone on air last night on Green TV Entertainment. It has been one of the most anticipated drama serials of 2024. Teasers and promos on social media garnered a high number of likes and views. And the anticipation among the viewers was pretty intense as it portrays a very different story. Let’s have a look at how the first episode was:
Story & Script:
One of the most acclaimed writers of our TV industry is behind the story of Gentleman, Khalil ul Rehman Qamar. And this time he has written other than a totally romantic story. Gentleman is definitely a romantic story but the main focus is the crime scene and gangsters of the biggest city of Pakistan, Karachi. Romance and love are portrayed as prohibited for the hero, Iqbal Munna (Humayun Saeed). This time, Khalil ul Rehman has not written dialogues in idiomatic Urdu. Rather he has written some very rough language due to the nature of the story. Green Entertainment has made its mark through the stories different from the usual drama serials and typical characters.
Character Intro:
Characters have been introduced subtly. Particularly, the female lead character of Zarnab (Yumna Zaidi) has been introduced in a way that not only her thinking but also her profession as a TV anchor gives a beautiful portrayal. Behind the scenes and settings of a TV talk show with the overlap of her voice was a nice thing to see. The first scene of Dilbar (Ahmed Ali Butt) and Shagufta tells the background love story of them both.
Settings and locations:
The establishing shot of the metropolitan city of Karachi with a drone cam shows a detailed view in which the story is set. The market setting is a precise view of where the gangsters extort money from the shopkeepers. The settings of the marriage scene and talk show scene are also very well planned. Things are done in detail which shows the high production quality of this project.
Production and direction:
Steller names like Samina Humayun Saeed, Sana Shahnawaz, and Haissam Hussain can guarantee success for any TV project. And that is quite evident from the feedback and liking of the first episode of Gentleman. As the story moves ahead, we will witness the brilliant work of these giants. This very much shows us that viewers desperately want to see different and non-typical things. Gentleman has fulfilled the desperate wanting.
How has the first episode been?
A touch of romance, suspense, the boldness of the female lead character, her first encounter with the male lead, the dashing villain (Adnan Siddiqui), and most of all, the crime scene of a metro city like Karachi… that is the first and introduction episode of Gentleman with all ingredients.
