Pagal Khana has long stretched to 58 episodes by now. As the story title suggests, this world can be called a mental health institution (pagal khana) as being a place full of people with mental issues. Cognitive and psychological problems need much more attention than physical ailments. And the people suffering from these problems also deserve love and care. They are abnormal but with treatment, they can become normal human beings once again. This is the core message of the story.
Adila, Nimra, Taha/Ahmed have become a love triangle
Ahmed/Taha has become a bone of contention between Adila and Nimra. Now Adila is going through severe mental trauma as she is unable to cope with such a harsh thing. Love can be so devastating and depressing that one can see it on the face of Adila.
Noor is back to the business once again
Seeing that Noor (Saba Qamar) has returned to her normal life after going through a deep trauma in the health institution is relieving. She suffered the grief of love that made her end up in mental health treatment but now doing business and leading a happy life.
Najam’s conspiracies and lust for money
He is doing what he likes. But his end is evident which is going to be painful. Lust always brings a bad ending.
Other characters are also struggling with their inner demons and life issues. Behram is one such character who is rejected due to his mental health problem. Though people like him get back to normal life after having treatment, they are still not accepted in society. The continuous rejection may lead to more suffering and hinder the journey back to normalization.
The overwhelming feelings of Adila upon the behavior of Taha look like a pinpoint. Noor on the other hand has been very polite and doesn’t want the suffering for any other one she has gone through by herself.
Guard Khan is a light character who provides some respite from the serious issues discussed in the story.
The pace of the two episodes
A bit slow was the pace with the story moving forward sluggishly. Sometimes, we need more patience to keep watching the story like this. Each of the characters has his/her background story which takes time to unfold.
Response from the audience
Pagal Khana is getting a good response from the viewers being a different and new story. By highlighting this important issue of the society, Iqbal Hussain has done a great job but much patience is also required to watch such stories. Iqbal Hussain has been doing very non-typical scripts before this drama also. Madness of love and emotions is pretty admirably shown in the story.
Some characters’ performance is not up to the mark but overall this story is making a decent impact.
Let’s wait and see what is in store for Noor, Salman, Behram, Pari, and others.
