The first episode of Duniyapur went on air last night on Green TV. The much-anticipated drama has been titled ‘Pakistan’s Game of Thrones’. Yes, this title is right to a great extent. It is one of the most expensive dramas produced in Pakistan.

Duniyapur appears to be of another world. Just like Jindo, Green TV has the credit to give us an altogether different story. This story rightly presents the proof that our drama industry has such great and untapped potential.

Storyline and script:

Since the advent of the universe, the desire for power and rule has been a forever conflict, and hundreds of stories around the world have stemmed from it.

Duniyapur is a battleground of two rival families: Adams and Nawabs. Both the warring parties are at odds to claim the rule over the small city. Nawab family has lost their three sons. Their daughter, Ana Nawab (Ramsha Khan) is fed up with the generational enmity and wants to escape. Adams family has two young sons: Nayab (Ali Raza), and Shahmeer (Khushhal Khan). They are poles apart in their thinking.

The past grievances are shifted to the young generation. Rivalry, revenge, murder, the desire for power and rule, biting the dust, and sacrificing blood relations for the sake of the throne, and even the law enforcement agencies are helpless before the warring parties. The newly appointed SHO is somewhat kidnapped on reaching Duniyapur.

The first episode has given us a major and clear picture of the story. Inner and outer conflicts faced by the characters are the driving force behind the story. We can rightly say that a vast canvas has graced our screen with a story that can have unexpected turns and twists.

Writer and director:

Radain Shah has penned the story of Duniyapur while Shahid Shafa’at has brought it to the screen: what does the world of Duniyapur look like, how are the people there, their culture and lifestyle, and whether they want to change the ongoing enmity and live peacefully?

Production design, characterization, and cast:

The characters of Nauroz Adam (Nauman Ejaz), and Nawab Dilawaiz (Manzar Sehbai) look like real-life warlords. Zaib Rehman (Nawabzadi) also has the persona of a senior woman who has gone through an eventful life. They all fit into their respective characters. The real locations, settings, background props, and dressing are designed intelligently.

As the story demands, the videography is done with the help of the drone cam and other expensive and latest equipment.

Budget of the serial:

This is said to be one of the most expensive dramas produced in our history. From a high budget to a high-level and mega-production, Multiverse Productions’ job is brilliant as the production team. Its budget is roughly 30 crore+ and Green Entertainment has taken the status of Mega dramas Hub in span of such a short period.

What to expect next?

Ana (Ramsha Khan) stabs Shahmeer when his elder brother attacks the Nawab family along with his men. She wants to escape Duniyapur but with the new development in the story, her departure is not likely.

We can expect another action-packed and thrilling episode ahead with many arrangements of interest. Let’s wait and see.
