The first two episodes of Behroopia, Green Entertainment’s much-anticipated show, have gone on air. Written by Rida Bilal and directed by Shaqielle Khan, the story explores the depths of a normal-looking personality suffering from an acute psychological disorder. Let’s look at how the story unfolds his inner demons, how his outer world is affected, and how he is coping with this dilemma in between the two worlds.
Story and script:
This is a different story that highlights a psychological problem. However, it is wrapped in a family and social framework. Mikael (Faysal Quraishi) has a childhood trauma that haunts him everywhere, and at that time, he acts pretty weird. The basic conflict of the story is established in the very first scene. Mikael and his story are set in a lavish and upper-class environment with a very dark side, too. On the surface, everything looks quite normal, but deep down, he is fighting a constant battle. On the other hand, Zara (Madiha Imam) is also facing a conflict with her lover (Nabeel Zubairi), who is not ready to marry her soon. She is a brilliant student at her university. Both Mikael and Zara need a loving and caring life partner.
There are many English words and phrases in the dialogues that look a bit odd. Language must be native even in an upper-class storyline.
Direction and production:
Multiverse Entertainment has presented the drama for Green Entertainment. Being a big name in the drama industry, Multiverse has brought before us a new aspect of mental health, which is so necessary for human wellbeing. Apart from usual stories, this brings to light a very sensitive topic which needs to be talked about.
Performance:
As Faysal Quraishi is a powerhouse of acting and has been doing a fantastic job for more than 25 years, he may be called the perfect choice for this role. A multi-layered character like Mikael can be done only by an actor like him. Madiha has also played her character against Faysal brilliantly. Kaif Ghaznavi as phuppo of Zara has also done a good job, but her character looks over. In the intro episodes, the character of Mikael is been the center of attention, but we will see the different colors of other characters too in the coming episodes.
What to expect next?
In the next episodes, Mikael is going to marry Zara, but that marriage is not going to be a smooth one. The hidden demons of Mikael are going to surface during the process. Things are going to be complicated for Mikael and also for Zara in the end.
