The 9th and 10th episodes continue Mehru’s (Anmol Baloch) struggles. We have seen her bravely facing whatever comes her way and not surrendering to the odds at any cost. She faces conflicts within her family and Shahnawaz (Ali Raza) that are getting even bigger and harsher, but she still stands her ground firmly.
Story and script
Things advance at a good pace in the two episodes. How she struggles against the powerful as well as family issues, it’s portrayed simultaneously in a solid manner.
A mother who has lost her son and a mother who desperately wants to avoid losing her son… this opposite struggle is going to be interesting. One is a typical mother lamenting the occurrence of her son’s death and the other is a powerful politician who wants to reconcile with the aggrieved party. However, the powerful mother (Rubina Ashraf) is also facing difficulties. Mehru’s resilience to win justice for her murdered brother has proved to be more than enough to test the patience of Shahnawaz and his mother.
Weak versus powerful… This is quite a common narrative in our films and dramas. How the weak who is interestingly a girl tackles the circumstances and comes out triumphant against the powerful political system… would be the real test of the writer and director, Hina Huma Nafees and Faheem Burney.
Direction
Faheem Burney is working after quite an interval and he has dealt the story with brilliance. Family politics and real-life politics face off in the story. He has done a good job tackling the parallel events with both failures and winning situations.
Characterization
We have seen a shift in recent drama stories with a powerful and outspoken female protagonist. Mehru is the same which is quite a heartening message for our girls and women. In the two episodes, she tries her best to keep a balance between her personal and family life and the battle she is fighting against a robust antagonist. Sometimes she wins, sometimes she loses. Shahnawaz and his younger brother who is the murderer are intoxicated by power and wealth. That way, Mehru’s character becomes laudable as she is firm in her stance.
What to expect next?
Mehru has done a press conference which has sparked a new conflict between the two parties. This spoiler can have great consequences on the story as well as the hero’s attitude. He is now more furious because the female protagonist is not ready to surrender at any cost. Saman Shah has to devise something new to save his younger son.
Things are getting starker for both parties as they refuse to compromise. The next episode will be most likely the continuation of the ongoing conflicts.
