Jaisay Aap Ki Marzi has gone on air and since its release, viewers have started getting it a go. The story is written by Naila Jafri and directed by TV’s famous senior actress Saba Hameed. Presented on ARY Digital, this drama has gained the attention and liking of the audience since its very first episode.

The story revolves around the sentiments of losing your lover, non-compatibility between the relationships, class differences, social pressure especially on girls for marriage, and the deep-rooted patriarchy. It is about how a person’s behavior changes because of societal pressure and the judgmental nature of our people.

The protagonist of the play is a beautiful young girl Alizay (Durr-e-Fishan Saleem) who is against patriarchy. She is a supporter of equal opportunities for women in education, career, and employment. She speaks openly about women’s rights and gender equality while speaking to people on the Ted Talk platform. Alizay wants to marry Salman, a university fellow. Alizay’s father (Ali Tahir) is a professor and his family belongs to the upper middle class. Although they have given their daughters freedom of education and career, at the same time they also want to get Alizay married on time.

On the other hand, Sherry (Mikaal Zulfiqar) is the son of a big businessman (Javed Shaikh). His sister, Natasha (Kiran Malik), has taken over the house since their mother’s death. Alizay’s proposal is under consideration by Sherry’s father, but as Natasha has the hold on the household, she wants to find a girl for her brother herself. She wants a compatible and equal-in-status girl as her sister-in-law. She has a dominant nature so she doesn’t like that her father has chosen a girl for his brother. Father also wants to respect her choices.

Alizay wants to marry Salman while Sherry falls in love with Alizay at first sight. Marriage is very difficult for Salman at present. He needs some time to marry while Alizay’s parents prefer the proposal of Sherry for her. The introduction of the characters and the main conflicts of the story are very well presented in the first episode. When you like someone else but have to marry another person, it definitely has a profound impact on your life and personality. And that is the story of the play Jaisay Aap Ki Marzi.

There is a curious twist at the end of the first episode. As a result of parental pressure, Alizay is forced to marry Sherry, and Salman needs some time to settle into his new job before getting married. Now Alizay must choose between her parents’ choice and the love of her life. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
