Renowned Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi, widely recognized for his contributions to the drama and film industry, is set to leave his mark in forthcoming Punjabi Film. Despite venturing into films such as ‘Saza’ and a few others in his early acting days, Faysal Quraishi gained substantial recognition primarily through his achievements in the drama Industry and he continues to dominate till now. Although his previous film ‘Sorry’ faced unfinished production and got shelved, Faysal Quraishi has now committed to another project, marking his step into Punjabi Cinema with ‘Mango Jatt’ which will be written and Directed by the emerging filmmaker Abu Aleeha.

Faysal Quraishi’s Take on Mango Jatt:

In a conversation with Lollywood Pictures, Faysal Quraishi shared his rationale for selecting a project like Mango Jatt. He expressed that the film offers pure entertainment with all the essential elements to be a thoroughly enjoyable cinematic experience. Faysal Quraishi emphasized that Mango Jatt addresses societal issues, particularly relevant to kids and teenagers, while seamlessly incorporating entertaining elements. It was this unique blend of social commentary and entertainment that convinced him to accept the script presented by film director Abu Aleeha. He further said that

Mango Jatt will be loved by Kids and praised by Teenagers.

While talking exclusively to Lollywood Pictures, Film Director Abu Aleeha, said that

Mango Jatt is a complete and comprehensive Action-Comedy Film, featuring A-list actors from both Punjab and Karachi—an unprecedented collaboration.

 He highlighted that “Mango Jatt is a pioneering Punjabi Comedy Film specifically tailored for children and teenagers, positioning itself as the first of its kind in the genre in the history of Pakistan’s Film Industry. The movie is crafted to be a wholesome family entertainer”.

Notably, “Mango Jatt marks Faisal Quraishi’s entry in Punjabi cinema, adding to his illustrious career as a seasoned actor with numerous blockbuster projects.”

We inquired further with Abu Aleeha about the lead actress of the film, and he shared that discussions and considerations are ongoing. The official announcement regarding the lead actress will be made soon, adding an element of anticipation to the film’s unfolding narrative.

Abu Aleeha, a distinguished film writer and director, has emerged as one of the most accomplished talents in recent years within the Pakistani film industry. His dedication is evident as he consistently immerses himself in shoots and sets for a significant portion of the year. With each new project, he reaffirms his status as a professional, prominent, and committed film director.

Abu Aleeha stands as an experienced director with a decent track record. His accolades include winning the International Award for Best Director at the UK Asian Film Festival for his film ‘Javed Iqbal’ (renamed to Kukri), With an impressive portfolio, he has directed Eleven Films to date. Among these, Kataksha, Shinogai, Tevar, Udhham Patakh, Shot Cut, Daadal, Javed Iqbal (renamed to Kukri), and ‘Super Punjabi’ have already been released. Meanwhile, ‘Once Upon a Time in Karachi’, Lockdown, and Taxali Gate are eagerly anticipated, and set for release in the near future.

As a Karachi-based film director, Mango Jatt marks Abu Aleeha’s third venture into Punjabi cinema, showcasing his unwavering dedication and affection for the cultural landscape of Punjab. Prior to Mango Jatt, he directed films like ‘Shot Cut’ and ‘Super Punjabi’ further underscoring his commitment to storytelling in the vibrant and diverse context of Punjab by involving prominent actors both from Punjab and Karachi.

Abu Aleeha has gained popularity in the Punjab Circuit as a film director due to his prolific output. Unlike other Lahore-based film directors who typically release a single movie every three years on average, Abu Aleeha distinguishes himself by consistently directing around three Punjabi films per year. This prolific approach not only keeps his audience engaged but also contributes to his reputation as a director committed to delivering a steady stream of cinematic content.

Abu Aleeha’s Previously Directed Punjabi Films:

The Punjabi film ‘Shot Cut’, produced on a low budget, featuring stars like Gohar Rasheed, Sana, Juggan Kamzi, and Naseem Vicky, found success in the Indian market. It was sold to the prominent OTT platform Chaupal at a price equivalent to its production cost, ensuring the recovery of its expenses and contributing positively to the Box Office figures.

The film ‘Super Punjabi’, made on a significant budget, achieved a worldwide release in 19 countries. It did well at the Box Office, particularly in the UK, Canada, and the Punjab Circuit of Pakistan. The film’s popularity extended its theatrical run, with a notable presence in various Punjabi cinemas and several Lahore-based cinemas for an impressive duration of 4 to 5 weeks.

‘Mango Jatt’ stands out as a complete family film, catering to a diverse audience from five to sixty years old. In contrast to some nonsensical romantic comedies that have characterized Pakistani cinema, Punjabi cinema, in particular, has steered clear of content featuring morally offensive songs and explicit dialogue. With Mango Jatt, a significant shift is anticipated as it promises to introduce clean and entertaining content to Punjabi audiences globally. This movie is envisioned as an inclusive experience that every Punjabi should and will eagerly attend with their kids and spouse, embracing a family-friendly cinematic offering.

Mango Jatt will be shot in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Bahawalpur, Islamabad, and Nithia Gali. The other lead cast of Mango Jatt will be officially announced soon before the film goes on the floor. Mango Jatt will be hitting cinemas next year on Eid Ul Fitr, 2024.
