Kafeel has come up to the 30th episode this week. Zeba finds the courage to take a step that she should have taken many years ago. And the pleasing thing is that her children are supporting her in this difficult phase of life. Let’s have a look at how the two episodes went and where the new advancements will lead the characters to:
Story so far:
We got to see the big breakthrough of divorce in this week’s episode, with the marital issues dominating the story before this. A transition between past and present – the signing of Nikah-nama at the wedding ceremony and then on divorce papers – depicts the shift in marital status. That shift portrays a woman’s turmoil and a long, painful journey as a wife and mother who is enduring an abusive and toxic relationship.
The pleasing thing about this story is that all the kids are supporting Zaba (Sanam Saeed) in her bad times, and the family enjoys a deep bond that none can separate them.
On the other side, Subuk (Aashir Wajahat) is not interested in marrying Daneen (Areeka Haq) because he has seen the marital problems his parents have been through. This is logical, but it is also hurting Daneen.
Umera Ahmad, as the writer, has come up with a very brave female character in Kafeel, while in the past she wrote oppressive and victimized female characters, like in Hum Kahan Kay Shachay Thay and Meri Zaat Zarra e Bay Nishan.
Performance:
Sanam Saeed and Imad Irfani are the established actors, but all the other young and old people are also performing very well. Aashir Wajahat is doing well as a young son who supports his mother and sisters. Areeka Haq, Nooray Zeeshan, and Haniya Ahmed also fit their characters well as young girls.
Direction:
Meesam Naqvi has brought the story this far while keeping the viewers interested. Home setting, props, lighting, and camera are good. Sound is handled carefully during outdoor scenes. He had done a good job both technically and creatively.
What to expect next?
Jami (Imad Irfani) is the same old person who was at the time of the wedding with Zeba – no change in his behavior so far.
However, we can guess he may repent in the coming episodes. We can see another shift in the life of Zeba during the next episodes as Subuk has a strong realization that his mother should marry again and have a life of her own. So now we can see a new change coming in the story.
